The funding was announced by Laura Smith, Member of Provincial Parliament for Thornhill. With this investment, York Metal Products Inc. will design and manufacture leak-proof transformer assemblies to support the rapid growth of the electric vehicle industry. The project will support a collaboration between Toronto Hydro Canadian Electrical Services Corporation (CES), with York Metal Products Inc. producing approximately 400 pole-mount and submersible transformer housings, CES will handle the assembly and testing of the units. The project will also see the manufacturing of transformer housing be re-shored from external jurisdictions to Ontario.
